⭕ The Court of Icod de los Vinos is investigating the commission of an alleged murder after the discovery last week of the body of a man in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte. The body corresponded to Tanausú Pérez, 35 years old, who had been missing since December 1. The body was found in an open field near the Buenavista cemetery.

⭕ The travel agencies of the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, through their respective associations, will work together to achieve an expansion of the scope of the resident discount. Its intention is that the 75% bonus always includes hand luggage, which does not happen with certain low-cost airlines.

⭕ The Government have given the green light to the Canarian Health Service to dedicate €5.62 million to finance the modification to the contract for the supply of automated medication dispensing systems for health centres. ⭕ The Tenerife tourism sector accepts the challenge of modernizing to adapt to present and future demands in terms of digitalization and sustainability. The main Canarian industry will not be alone in this process, as the Tenerife Cabildo will launch a program to promote the digitalization of tourism infrastructure, improving the services offered, for example, in the island’s ports and airports.

⭕Izquierda Unida Canaria has denounced the Catholic parish priest of the church of Nuestra Señora de la Luz, in Guía de Isora, in which homosexuality and bisexuality were equated with rape or cannibalism. The national coordinator of IUC considers that these types of “acts of resignation” are susceptible to a hate crime against the LGTBI collective and appeals to the ecclesiastical and civil authorities to investigate and take ” the necessary measures”.

⭕ The Cabildo of Tenerife plans to reopen the Altavista Refuge, located in the Teide National Park, in the first half of next year. This was stated by the president of the insular Corporation, during the press conference held on the occasion of International Mountain Day.

⭕ Workers’ Commissions, the majority union of Correos in the Canary Islands, has celebrated the announcement made for the hiring of more staff to face the avalanche of shipments that occur in these months, due to dates such as Black Friday and Christmas. However, they consider this measure is only a “patch.”

⭕ Puerto de la Cruz will have an early warning system to avoid flooding. In San Telmo and Martiánez, a current meter and a camera will be installed that will be used to predict changes on the coast that will measure the rise in sea level caused by the effects of climate change in order to avoid flooding.

⭕ The Local Police of Santa Cruz have stopped carrying out surveillance work on Las Teresitas beach after the end of the summer and following the order issued by the capital’s Council and signed by the acting commissioner.

⭕ Granadilla has confirmed it is willing to give up more land to build another school or Early Childhood and Primary Education Centre. The municipality has already transferred land in San Isidro for a teaching centre. Specifically, it would be municipal public land, located in Los Cardones, in the town of San Isidro, one of the most crowded in the south of Tenerife.

⭕ Agents of the National Police seized a ton of cocaine of the highest purity in a luxury villa in Tenerife, in what is the largest seizure in the islands. ⭕ State Government, at the proposal of the Minister of Territorial Policy, allocated €797,000 for the removal of boats and canoes accumulated in the port of La Restinga (El Hierro), where they were affecting the operation of naval infrastructure. But the number of boats has been growing in areas like Las Galletas where they are piling up without control coinciding with the migratory surge, which has resulted in some complaints from residents of the town.

⭕The Lo Spirito de Stella, a boat fully adapted for people with disabilities, has been in Santa Cruz Marina for its first stopover of the Wheels on Waves Around the World 2023-2025 project, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Defense. On board are soldiers belonging to the Italian armed forces and other nationalities who are victims of work accidents while participating in peace missions around the world with other physical disabilities.

⭕ The Hotel and Non-Hotel Association, Ashotel, insists that the Tenerife South airport, the seventh in volume of operations of the entire AENA network in Spain, urgently needs a solution to the problem of the endless lines that frequently, even more so in high season, form among passengers wishing to take a taxi to their accommodation on the island. ⭕ An SOS button to press in the event of an emergency and a refuge to serve as a refuge for members of the rescue teams and for those affected by accidents in Teide National Park. These are the measures the Cabildo is proposing to improve safety after two tourists were killed and two others rescued. Last weekend was tragic with the death of two tourists from the Spanish mainland, who died presumably from hypothermia. Followed in the early hours by firefighters who rescued two Austrian citizens in the vicinity with symptoms of hypothermia and dehydration. The operation was costly and lasted over 8 hours. The rescuers and those affected rested in a room set up for the disposal of rubbish. The intention is to set up a purpose-built space in the future. There will also be one at the Altavista shelter. It has €1.2 million in the 2024 budget for its “complete rehabilitation”. The technical project is awaiting the final economic report. The councillor expects the process to start in January with the awarding of the contract and for it to be opened “as soon as possible”.

⭕ Due to high demand, the Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport puts into service the expansion of its Nivaria VIP Lounge to offer users maximum comfort.  The VIP Lounge is located on the first floor of the Terminal building, in the national boarding area.

⭕ The Supreme Court has confirmed the 23-year prison sentence that a jury handed down in July 2022 to a man who killed his ex-partner in Granadilla de Abona, by stabbing her in the neck with various cutting instruments. It also ratifies the obligation for the convicted person to pay €150,000 to the young woman’s mother.

⭕  The first edition of the Animal Welfare Forum in the Plaza de El Médano, was held this week. It began with an exhibition of dogs used in search operations by the Civil Protection of La Laguna and in which the public could appreciate first-hand the modus operandi of these animals. Subsequently, a parade of homeless dogs was held, coming from various shelters, to encourage their adoption.

⭕ The judicial authority has ordered the imprisonment of the driver of a motorcycle who tried to run over a Guardia agent at a speed control installed on the TF-27 in Granadilla when they proceeded to stop him.  The motorist had previously committed several traffic violations, ignored the agent’s order and made several illegal overtakes in an area with a continuous line. When one of the agents went he hit the agent with the fairing of the motorcycle and quickly left the scene doing another “wheelie.”

⭕ The Ministry of Transportation confirms in Congress the collapse of the Correos service in Arona, San Isidro and Playa de las Américas and assures that, after hiring personnel, it is meeting the established deadlines and delivering the backlog of more than 1600 registered parcels plus a huge number of unregistered letters and parcels.

⭕ The Cabildo of Tenerife has closed two trails,  the Montaña Blanca-Pico Teide and the Mirador de la Fortaleza, located in the Teide National Park, due to the presence of ice. The measure was adopted after the rainfall in recent days, which has caused the presence of ice and snow on the aforementioned trails, which poses a risk to people.

⭕ The Corbellati Missile, considered the fastest vehicle in the world, was designed and completely assembled in the Tenerife municipality of Adeje. The supercar can reach 500 km/h. The Italian Corbellati family, known for their tradition in the world of jewellery, brought their passion for excellence and luxury to Tenerife, turning the island into the epicentre of automotive innovation.

⭕ The Parque del Drago is the setting chosen by the Icod de los Vinos Council to create a life-size nativity scene. It is a natural environment that “offers a genuine example of a thermophilic forest with plants typical of our biodiversity,” said the Councilor for the Icodtesa council.
