We decided to make an early start on our walk and it was peaceful, the village was silent, the air was fresh, the sun was just coming up over the mountains, La Gomera was clear on the horizon and it was only 21°C. Now at 9.00am the rest of the world is awake and temperatures have risen to 25°C think we could be in for a hot day. From tomorrow some of the islands are again on hot weather alert, at the moment it isn’t affecting Tenerife but that could quickly change.
El Dia said yesterday that the north of the island was likely to see cloudy intervals, particularly at dawn when there would be lots around but clearing in the afternoon but there was also a chance of ‘occasional weak rain’. Fortunately for us here in the south there was none of that nonsense and we had wall to wall sunshine. But also while very warm it wasn´t the oppressive heat that is being experienced in mainland Europe. Little wonder Tenerife is described as having a perfect climate.
