As of yesterday, the AECC (The Spanish Association Against Cancer) has new offices in Edf Verodal, in Calle Montaña Chica in Los Cristianos. They will offer physiotherapy services for cancer patients to supplement their psychological and social care. In addition they will provide information about free services offered by AECC like temporary accommodation for those receiving treatment, transport, loans of ortho-prosthetic material, aquatic programmes, smoking cessation programmes, or financial and food aid.
The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, and the Councillor for Social Services, Elena Cabello Moya, inaugurated these new facilities together with the manager of AECC in the Canaries, Carlota Cobo, and the coordinator of the South Zone of this entity, Loli Sebares.
AECC Tenerife South
The AECC created its Regional Board Tenerife South in 2002 and established its headquarters in Arona, in 2007 and until a few months ago, was located in the Centre for Functional Diversity El Mojón.
The AECC is a non-profit, organisation, which has been working in the fight against cancer for 64 years. It integrates patients, families, volunteers and professionals who work together to prevent, sensitize, accompany the affected people and fund oncological research projects that will allow a better diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
