Almost 18,000 kilos of tinted salt and flowers will be used in the making of ‘carpets’, a tradition that grows every year and is a great tourist attraction.
Nine neighbourhoods in Arona are already preparing to celebrate Corpus Christi this weekend (17 and 18 June) with carpet designs in the main squares and roads of the town as well as Las Galletas and Los Cristianos. In Los Cristianos, they will begin work in the square from 16:00 on Saturday and throughout the night.
In Arona town from 20:00 on Saturday, you can see how the designs are made, until 20:30 on Sunday, at which time the work of art will disappear as the procession takes place. You will also find ‘carpets’ in Parque de la Reina, Valle San Lorenzo and inside the churches of Buzanada, La Camella, Cabo Blanco, Parque la Reina and El Fraile.
This year Los Gigantes will participate with ‘carpets’ in the vicinity of the church in Puerto de Santiago and in the Plaza de Los Gigantes.
