Private detectives to mingle with guests over food poisoning scam?

British tour operators are said to be preparing to employ undercover detectives in a bid to halt false food poisoning claims which are costing the Spanish hotel industry millions of pounds. Jet2, Thomas Cook and TUI are reported to be hiring private eyes to spy in hotels on any Brit holidaymakers tempted to lie about falling ill whilst enjoying their breaks in the sun. Read More

Death by Drowning Awareness Campaign

Tenerife Tourism adds to the campaign launched by the Royal Spanish Federation of Lifesaving and Prevention. It is a policy to reduce the number of deaths by drowning that occur each year in Spain and in 2017 these already exceed 100 people. The campaign includes informative leaflets and simple tips to prevent accidents. These brochures can be downloaded in several languages from the website of the Royal Federation , in the Prevention section.

Man cuts his ex’s hair with a machete

A man identified as JAJ, a 24-year-old Venezuelan, was detained by Civil Guard in Buenavista del Norte after he cut his ex-partner’s hair with a machete and allegedly threatened their baby. The woman at the time of the aggression took their son three months and had to escape over the roof. The aggressor was stopped by Civil Guard and did not offer any resistance, he admitted what he was accused of.

The event will take place on June 17 at the Amarilla Golf.  The Rhythms of the World Festival (RDM), is the starting signal for the great dance music events that take place during the summer in Tenerife.

The lifeless body of a 56 year old man was discovered about 14:00 yesterday in Santa Maria del Mar. Neighbors became aware of the bad smell coming from the house they alerted the Fire Consortium, and National Police who discovered the body.  Everything indicates that the cause of death is through natural causes.

Homeowner charged with a crime of drug-making. The Civil Guard has arrested a 56-year-old man for cultivating marijuana at his home in Adeje, where 246 plants were found. The agents were called to the house when adjoining houses noticed the strong smell.


Civil Guards arrested two men 36 and 41, respectively, residents of Guargacho, for allegedly stealing 30 boxes (300 kilos of tomatoes)
