Flyboard is the new hype. And it is no surprise, since this water sport promises amazing sensations. The possibility of flying over water, diving into it and making all sorts of flips becomes a reality with this sport. Only watching one of the many videos available online it will become clear that Flyboard makes for a unique experience. In October 2012 the first ever World Championship took place in Doha (Qatar), and in only a few years this sport has gained numerous followers.
How does it work?
Using the Flyboard is relatively easy. It is based on a conventional water scooter which collects water through the prow and pushes it at high pressure through a turbine on the stern. This output is connected to a hose that channels all that pressure underneath a propulsion board. In addition, a pair of small thrusters installed in the pilot’s boots absorb the water and then powerfully eject it.
Contrary to what it may look like at first sight, it is not as difficult to learn as one could think, and the majority of those who practice it for the first time manages to fly in the first attempts. It does not require being in great physical shape and anyone can give it a try, as long as one likes water and is in for a good time.
