Arico the forgotten Municipality

Arico is the second largest municipality in Tenerife and is located in the south of the island, between Fasnia and Granadilla de Abona. It is divided into two urban groups, Arico el Viejo and Arico el Nuevo, with the towns of Tajao and El Porís, popular for their bathing areas and restaurants specialising in fresh seafood.

These coastal restaurants are just one of the attractions of its gastronomy, the area is also known for great quality cheeses and wines. In addition, some dishes such as the puchero or the famous salted fish with chestnuts of Arico el Viejo are very famous.

As for its heritage, there are some buildings dedicated to religion like the Church of San Juan Bautista (with an original Portuguese colonial court tower of the seventeenth century), the Church of the Virgin of Light or the Hermitage of San Bartolomé.
