Lent is a time of reflection in the lead up to Easter Week, and here in Adeje the main events take place from Good Friday up to Easter Sunday, on April 16th. For the first time this year the council, through the municipal school of music and the municipal band, is also offering a cycle of sacred music concerts.
The Adeje departments of heritage and presidency – presided over by councillors Juan Desiderio Afonso Ruiz and Carmen Rosa González Cabrera, the latter also having responsibility for the EMMA (the official name of the School of Music and Movement) – are organising the concerts which will take place in the Santa Úrsula church in the town centre and the San José church in Los Olivos.
The concerts will be free to the public and the first two performances will also feature members of the EMMA chamber music orchestra and will be on Saturday, March 18th at 8.30pm in the San José church, and on Friday, March 24th at 7pm in the Santa Úrsula church. The third concert, on Saturday, March 25th at 12.30pm in the Santa Úrsula church will feature the EMMA junior choir, and at 7pm that day, in the same church, there will be a performance of the Regina Coeli for soprano.
The last concert in the cycle takes place on April 1st at 7pm in the Convento de San Francisco with the Adeje Patron Municipal bank and will be followed by the inauguration of an exhibition and the presentation of the Easter Week poster and other related programmes.
