THE CITY OF MUSEUMS

The mayor of Santa Cruz says…

Welcome to a different capital, one that will surprise you with its life in the streets, delicious gastronomic offerings, and variety of museums.

Throughout the month of March, I especially recommend that you visit our museums. In the Military Museum of Almeyda, you will learn the fascinating history of General Gutierrez and the brave soldiers before whom the great Admiral Nelson surrendered; In the TEA you can admire the work of the surrealist painter Óscar Domínguez (whose name is always associated with Picasso, Dalí, Man Ray, or Magritte). The Municipal Museum of Fine Arts (the oldest in the Canary Islands), brings together a wide, valuable and diverse pictorial collection of the last four centuries and in the Círculo de Bellas Artes, in the heart of the commercial district in calle del Castillo you will be surprised by the new Artistic trends. I recommend you also visit the Museum of Nature and Man, where you will learn of the Guanches, our first settlers, their mummies, customs and the fauna of the island. It will be an unforgettable day for the whole family. And…

If you arrive early in March, you have time to enjoy and remember forever our Carnival Day (March 4).
