A woman dies after being trapped while abseiling in Tenerife


At 12:37pm this afternoon, Canary Islands Government’s Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert informing them that a woman, who was abseiling had a problem with a rope and had become trapped in a pool in the Barranco de la Pimentera, Buenavista del Norte. They were told the affected woman was unconscious despite, medical personnel, who happened to be in the area performing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation while waiting for the emergency resources to arrive,

The GES search and rescue helicopter located her and she was transferred to the roundabout at the TF-1 access to Santiago of the Teide where paramedics took over. During the course of the journey, the SUC staff quickly initiates advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres without success and sadly death was confirmed at the scene.
