Tenerife Sur Airport receives its 10 million passenger

On November 2, 1978, Joaquin Ruiz Lorente was the first passenger to descend the steps of the first commercial aircraft that landed at the airport, a DC-9 Iberia from Lanzarote. The arrival of this flight attracted interest from media and residents of the area who came to the airport to witness the event.

Yesterday, at 14:15 a woman traveling to Tenerife from Manchester aboard a Thomas Cook Airbus 321 was the 10 millionth passenger to land at Tenerife South Airport. To celebrate the event, the director of the airport, Santiago Yus, met the lucky traveller as she exit the plane and presented her with a commemorative gift and access to the VIP lounge, for her and her companion.
