In 2015 the non-profit making association Solidarios Canarios was created that invovlved a group of individuals who wanted to work for and contribute voluntarily to building solidarity. Given that aim the Adeje council, “as a response to this initiative, have signed a covenant of cooperation with the association. Given the multicultural reality that is Adeje this is a clear and obvious path we wish to follow”, said the councillor for social harmony, Zebenzui Chinea Linares.
The association is inviting everyone to take part in their current project called (translated) ‘A school, a dream’, working to build a school in The Gambia, in Africa. Those interested in helping should drop into the ‘Escuela de Seguridad y Convivencia’ in Las Nieves on November 18th (Friday) from 7pm, where they can take part in different activities that the association have organised.
The school is to be built in Jalakoto, a village located about 80 kilometres from Banjul, the Gambian capital. There is already land set aside for the centre.
