Summer Carnival comes to Puerto de la Cruz

Summer Carnival is coming to Puerto de la Cruz – a new initiative that aims to serve as an incentive for the economic, social and cultural development of the municipality.

For three days, from 16th to 18th September the resort will be filled with music and colour, with troupes, groups, bands, parades and festivals. Avenida Colón, Paseo San Telmo, and Plaza de Europa will be where all the action takes place and will feature a comprehensive program whose aim is to make this a party for tourists, visitors, and residents of all areas.

There are many new features planned in this first edition of the Summer Carnival. Dorada will be responsible for supplying the beverages in places where there is activity by providing beach bars and introducing a new campaign Boncho Tour – dispensing fresh beer directly from a truck.

The festival will start on Friday 16th with the official opening at Loro Parque at 12:00 hours, and will include the (s)election of 2017 Carnival Poster. Later, at 16:00, there will be an exhibition of carnival costumes in Tenerife Playa, Valle Mar and Las Vegas, along with a parade of fanfares, stilts and masks, which will complement the events scheduled for that day, ending in Plaza de Europa from 21:00.

The Summer Carnival sponsored by Loro Parque and Dorada will not compete or replace the winter carnival but will complement, and aims to give a small indication of what to expect in the International Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz that takes place in February next year.
