I haven´t seen anything official other than for the mainland, but there is talk in some circles that we are to expect another bout of hot days when temperatures could once again reach almost 40ºC. If that is correct then the UV index will be off the scale so do keep safe this weekend!
What I know as fact, as I am sitting on my patio writing this, is that the crystal clear sky we had yesterday has vanished as has the horizon, and all I can see is a dull brownish haze. Temperatures are 23°C – Oh don´t let it be another calima.
Friday we were up in the old town of Arona where in the blinding light of the August morning the distant coast looked like a molten mirror under a blue dome. The sun seemed to be trapped in the narrow streets, bounce off the ground, and causing gave an illusion of wavering images. Even in the shadows the heat still lingered and through the day temperatures steadily rose to 32°C.
The following images are from Costa Adeje in the south of the island and Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island and are taken from the webcam yesterday at 12.00, 3.00 and 5.00. These times are approximate and are at whatever is the nearest before or after the hour.
