The calima looks to have almost gone and although it is sunny and there are clouds in the mostly blue sky it is still very hazy on the horizon and my measuring point, La Gomera, is just the vaguest of outlines. Temperatures are almost 25°C.
We had a brief respite from the very high temperatures yesterday when there was quite a strong breeze that made the temperatures drop two or three degrees to just 31°C in the shade. We also saw some blue rather than murky skies with a couple of fluffy white clouds.
Next week’s forecast suggests that temperatures could start to climb again, and the Government have signalled a state of readiness for a return to full alert in the days to come for some of the islands. At the moment only Gran Canaria is on yellow alert, however, come Monday other islands are starting to feel the heat which is predicted to be 36°C in the shade and no doubt we will get our share too.
A little update for webcam watchers, there are several new ones and a couple of tweaks giving new angles on Skyline such as the Puerto one below.
The following images are from Costa Adeje in the south of the island and Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island and are taken from the webcam yesterday at 12.00, 3.00 and 5.00. These times are approximate and are at whatever is the nearest before or after the hour.
