Green light for Tenerife motor racing circuit

The Cabildo of Tenerife has given the green light for the construction of the new motor racing circuit in Granadilla.

The €23m project, which has been delayed by a year, received the final consent this week, after Cabildo president Carlos Alonso signed the approval papers. The track should open in the next 2 years, with works expected to start in the next few months.

Tenerife to invest €72M in the Puerto de la Cruz port

The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Carlos Alonso, has announced that 72 million Euros will be invested in the Puerto de la Cruz port. The project is to be drafted this year and will start in 2018. He also said the aim was to improve Fonsalía port although there is ‘no budgetary provision’ but he believes that a “significant portion” of the port may be financed by private initiative. In total Carlos Alonso said an overall investment amounting to some €409m, covering a five-year investment plan would also include social services, employment assistance, scholarships, grants, and business start-up help.

Developers unveil plans for Santa Cruz refinery site

Developers have submitted plans to build a golf course, hotels and swimming pools for the oil refinery located in Santa Cruz. The project, called parque Nuevo Santa Cruz, would utilize the space left after the refinery moved.

Alongside the proposals, there would also be restaurants, sports fields and tourist attractions in place to support the growing cruise ship tourism sector.
