May in Puerto de la Cruz

May is a month, where long hours are spent living on the streets, terraces and promenades. In Puerto de la Cruz these days are savoured with the “Mayo Canario”, an event that fills the streets of the city with gastronomy on the Tapas Route; tradition and folklore in the Paseo Romero and crafts in a street fair the last two weekends of May.

Feria

28th and 29th May at the pedestrian zone Calle Mequinez

Tapas route

From 14 to 30 May you can taste the cuisine of the city on a tour of the Ruta de la Tapa. 12 restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz are taking part and you can also participate in the prize draw by voting on the official “road book”, which you can get at participating locations.

Paseo Romero:

May 30 is celebrated in Puerto de la Cruz a traditional folk parade with portuenses bedecked in their Canarian dress walking the main streets of the town and oxen pulled carts filled with snacks and wine.

This year the Paseo Romero will start at 18.30 CC Pyramids and continue its journey through the Paseo de las Palmeras, Avdas. Colón, Venezuela, Generalissimo, Zamora and Santo Domingo; Paseo ending with a grand ball at harbour
